TECH TIP #1: CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
All too often, we tend to turn to the carburetor if something is amiss engine performance wise. While there certainly could be a fuel system issue, first make sure all other systems are in good condition before attempting to correct poor performance by adjusting the carburetor. For example, make sure the air filter is clean, that there are no intake air leaks and the ignition system is functioning correctly. If the machine is a two stroke, make sure the fuel/oil premix is correct. And whether two or four stroke, make sure the fuel is fresh and in good condition. Many a problem has been cured by simply draining the stale fuel that has been allowed to sit through the winter season.
